In Uttar Pradesh, a
local court of district Sant Kabir Nagar yesterday sent Minister of State for
Food and Civil Supplies, Laxmikant alias Pappu Nishad, to 14-day judicial
custody in a case lodged in 2006. Nishad had been facing a non-bailable warrant
issued from the court. On Friday, Laxmikant Nishad appeared before the court of
Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Gaur but was denied bail.

Police, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shailesh Kumar Pandey said that a complaint was filed
by one woman Chandmati against Laxmikant in a local court in 2006 on different
charges including beating , house trespass and criminal intimidation. The court
has fixed Monday 11th July as next date for hearing.
