Actor and Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Mumbai North Urmila Matondkar resigned from the birthday celebration on Tuesday. The resignation of the actress, who had promised to live the direction with the struggling fortunes of the party in Maharashtra, has come as jolt. Several senior leaders have already give up the birthday party and switched to both Shiv Sena or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the run-up to the State Assembly polls due in October, birthday celebration leaders said.

‘Utter dismay’
Tendering her resignation to the celebration high command, the Rangeela actor said she become quitting after no movement was taken on her latest letter to then Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora at the “loss of management and vision” within the celebration. The 44-yr-antique actor stated that to her “utter dismay”, the letter containing privileged and confidential verbal exchange became “quite simply” leaked to the media, which in step with her turned into an act of “blatant betrayal”. “Needless to say, no person from the party was

apologetic or maybe concerned closer to me for the same in spite of my repeated protests. Significantly, a number of the humans particularly named in my letter for the shoddy performance of the Congress in Mumbai North, were rewarded with more recent positions, rather than preserving them responsible for their acts and omissions,” she stated.

‘In-house politics’
Ms. Matondkar, who misplaced to the BJP’s Gopal Shetty, stated key functionaries of the Mumbai Congress are either not able to or not dedicated to bringing about a change and transformation in the enterprise for the betterment of the birthday party. This has caused organisational disinterest in the rank and file, she stated. “My political and social sensibilities refuse to permit vested interests inside the birthday party to apply me as a method to combat petty in-house politics, rather than working on a bigger goal in the Mumbai Congress,” she said. Senior birthday party leaders said that they had not widely wide-spread the actor’s resignation yet, birthday party sources stated.
