Uttarakhand government on third day of Budget session yesterday presented a Budget of 77,407.08 crore rupees for 2023-24. Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal said, it is an inclusive budget which promises development of all including youth, farmers, women and development of health infrastructure.
In the budget, 10459.55 crore rupees are allocated for education and youth welfare which is the largest allocation followed by the Health Department which has received an allocation of 4,217.87 crore rupees.
The Budget has a revenue surplus of 4,309.55 crore rupees. There is an increase of 18.05 percent in this year's total budget expenditure and a rise of 21.16 percent in capital expenditure as compared to last financial year.
The Finance Minister said, the government’s priority is
to provide better health facilities to the common people. He said, Uttarakhand is the first state in the country where every family enjoys the facility of cashless or free treatment under Atal Ayushman Yojana for which an allocation of 400 crore rupees has been made in the budget.
The Minister said, the budget reflects their commitment to building Uttarakhand into a leading State by the year 2025. He said, the Budget is focused on boosting the development of basic infrastructure, expanding the green cover and promoting entrepreneurship.
According to him, the budget puts emphasis on investment in the human capital, increase in capital expenditure, better availability of healthcare facilities, technology based development, and coordination between ecology and economy.
