Bengaluru: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has emphasized the need to keep ideology and politics out of our educational institutions. Speaking at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of National Assessment and Accreditation Council in Bengaluru today, he said, pious place of learning should not be safe havens for factionalism and altercations.
On the need to improve the standard of education, the Vice President said that NITI Aayog has recommended an increase in the spending on education to six per cent
by 2022. Along with filling vacancies, academicians must augment knowledge, skills and capabilities of the teaching faculty.
Saying that India spends less than one per cent of GDP on Research and Development, he said, private sector should increase their spending on this sector. Speaking on this occasion, Governor Vajubhai Vala said, education should build character and empower the youth for which only A grade institutions should be allowed to function.
