Veteran Gujarati film musician, singer and former Lok Sabha MP from Patan constituency Mahesh Kanodia has passed away following prolonged illness.
He was 83. His family sources said Kanodia was suffering from paralysis. He was a member of the 10th, 11th, 12th and 14th Lok Sabha from Patan constituency of North Gujarat. His contribution in Gujarati Cinema was spread over more than four decades. He was known for singing in 32 different voices including female voices.
He was awarded for Best Music for the Gujarati films Jigar ane Ami, Tanariri, Jog Sanjog
and Laju Lakhan. He has done thousands of stage shows through Mahesh Kumar and Party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the demise of former Lok Sabha MP and Musician Mahesh Kanodia.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, he was a multi talented singer, who got much love from people and as a politician too he was committed to the empowerment of the poor and underprivileged. The Prime Minister also spoke to the family members of the deceased politician and conveyed his condolences to them.
