In Maharashtra, rain deficit Vidarbha region is experiencing season's first spell of heavy rains since last two days.
While the intensity of rainfall has been reduced in Mumbai and its suburbs in last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy spells of rain continued to hit Nasik and Konkan belt.
IMD has predicted active vigorous rain spells to continue in many parts of Maharashtra, while Mumbai and Konkan may receive moderate to heavy rains in the near 48 hours.
In Amaravati, Sipna river has crossed the danger mark. The local administration has prepared an action plan to deal with the flood situation. The Naxal affected Gadchiroli district is also experiencing heavy rains since last two days.
Around 100 villages have lost contact from Bhamragad and Aheri towns due to heavy downpour as rivers are overflowing and roads are completely submerged in the rainwater.
In Jalgoan district, all 41 gates of the Hatanur dam on
the Tapi river have been fully opened and 218000 cusecs of water were released from the dam at the Tapi river basin.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government will provide adequate compensation to the people from Kalyan and Badlapur towns whose houses were damaged in the July 26-27 rain and flood.
Addressing a function in Murbad near Kalyan on Monday Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government will undertake a survey of the damage caused to the houses and give adequate compensation to the affected people in these towns.
Mr Fadnavis said if needed, the government would take a decision on compensation keeping in mind the new norms.
He said that since 2005, compensation of 5,000 rupees was given for each of the dwelling damaged in floods or rains. He added that in addition, funds will be made available for repair of roads damaged in the flood in Kalyan and Badlapur.
