Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who joined the Congress earlier in the day, was not served notice after she resigned from the Indian Railways, sources told India Today TV.
Phogat was served a show-cause notice on September 4 after reports surfaced that she and fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia could join a political party and contest
elections, sources said.
Both the wrestlers were asked to explain their stand as a government employee cannot join a political party or contest elections as per rules, they added.
Earlier, Punia and Phogat resigned from their respective positions in the Railways, hours before they were inducted by the Congress.
