Violence broke out during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi's Jahangir Puri area on Saturday, April 16.
Several vehicles have been vandalised by miscreants and police personnel were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital.
Right now, there is an atmosphere of tension in the area. It has been told that when the police tried to handle the situation on the spot, they were also attacked by the miscreants. It has also been told that stones were pelted on the procession.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the people to maintain peace. "The country cannot progress
without making peace, all people have to maintain peace, law and order. If needed, there is an agency, there is the police, whose responsibility is there. It is the responsibility of the central government to create peace and order in Delhi"he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader Kapil Mishra termed the stone-pelting incident a "terror attack".
The situation is now under control and strict action will be taken against the miscreants for disrupting peace. Patrolling has been increased in the area, said Delhi Police Commissioner.
Around 200 Rapid Action Force personnel have been deployed along with Delhi Police in the wake of the stone-pelting incident.
