Andhra Pradesh Urban Development Minister P. Narayana announced that the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project is set to begin in two phases. The state has submitted a detailed plan for four metro corridors to the central government.
The Minister said that in the first phase, three corridors covering 46.23 kilometres with 42 stations will be developed at an estimated
cost of 11,498 crore rupees. In the second phase, a 30.67-kilometer line with 12 stations will be developed. He further mentioned that to ease traffic, two-level flyovers will be constructed at key intersections along the metro routes. He emphasized that the project aims to improve urban connectivity and ease transportation in Visakhapatnam.
