Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam city police have brought out an extensive security blueprint ahead of the counting of votes on Tuesday, when the fate of candidates, who have contested the assembly and Lok Sabha elections from the port city, is to be decided. Briefing media on Sunday, additional DCP (Traffic) Srinivas Rao said they have put in place multi-layered security at the counting venues and their perimeters.
This includes blockades manned by central forces, followed by cordons of state armed forces and armed reserve police force. The third layer involves personnel of
ranks including ACPs circle inspectors and sub-inspectors across all seven assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. Police will also be patrolling the city to check trouble. Special pickets are being posted at six sensitive locations to deter potential disturbances.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) is already in force, prohibiting gatherings of four or more people. Srinivas Rao has cautioned the victors from taking out any processions or bursting crackers following declaration of the results.
