The voting has started in the 14 constituencies in Karnataka today. The voters started queuing up before the polling booths at 7 am. There are over two crore 88 lakh voters registered in these constituencies and 227 candidates are in fray. The election is being held in 28,269 polling booths. The election to the Shorapur Assembly constituency is also being held today, where six candidates are in fray including BJP and Congress.
The election authorities have made
arrangements to cope up with the severe heat conditions that are likely to reach above 45 degree celsius. There is drinking water, fans and waiting areas for the voters. There are ASHA workers deputed at these booths with ORS and medical kits and there will also be ambulances. Assured minimum facilities at the polling booths include volunteers to help the voters with disabilities and aged, ramp, wheelchair and magnifying glass.
