Voting is underway for the third and final phase of Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for smooth, peaceful and incident-free polling in 40 Assembly constituencies spread over 7 districts.

The polling, which began at 7 this morning, will conclude at 6 PM. More than 20 thousand polling staff have been put on duty in five thousand and 60 polling stations.

The seven districts where polling is being held today are Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora in Kashmir division and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts in Jammu Division. More than 39 lakh voters will decide



the fate of 415 candidates in this phase.

Prominent candidates in the fray are former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Basharat Bukhari, Sajad Gani Lone and Nasir Aslam Wani in Kashmir Division and Davinder Sing Rana, Choudhary Lal Singh and Raman Bhalla in Jammu Division.

Polling for the first two phases in the Union Territory was held on the 18th and 25th of September. In the first phase over 61 per cent and in the second phase, 57 per cent of polling was recorded. The counting for all the phases will be held on the 8th of this month along with Haryana.
