Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has said that India cannot become a developed nation if women are not participants in its growth. He was addressing an interactive session on “Role of Women in Viksit Bharat” at Bharati College, University of Delhi, on Friday. Mr Dhankhar said that women are the most important stakeholders in the making of Viksit Bharat. He said that girls and women have energy and talent, and creating an ecosystem is a must for their optimal participation. The Vice President also stressed women-led empowerment.
Expressing pain over the Kolkata rape and murder incident, the Vice President said that where women and girls do not
feel safe, that society is not a civilized society. He called upon everyone to resolve to create a system of zero accommodation and zero tolerance for such outrageous incidents of violence.
The Vice President said that the Uniform Civil Code is a constitutional ordainment and is part of the Directive Principles. He said it will help in several ways, but majorly, it will be a measure of justice for women. He said that India is heading fast towards becoming a mature, sophisticated, and formal economy. The Vice President also said that the nation is on track to create a robust industrial ecosystem.
