Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has urged the active participation of ICAR and Agricultural Universities across the country to support the farming sector. Speaking at the Amrit Mahotsav of the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad yesterday in Karnataka, the Vice President said there is a need to strengthen collaboration for technical assistance, economic support, value addition, and fair pricing to de-stress the farm sector.
He noted that the farm sector can be empowered by
the development of warehousing, marketing, value addition, and dairy management. He called upon Agri universities to reach out to farmers, with Krishi Vigyan Kendras being the nerve centres. The children of farmers, he added, must be attracted to agriculture through agribusiness and export knowledge centres. He called upon the agro-based industry and agriculture-based industry to provide CSR funds for the welfare of farmers and for research in the farm sector.
