In Jammu and Kashmir, Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar today inaugurated a Mega Expo under the theme “Emerging StartUp Trends in North India” at Kathua, in the august presence of Union Minister of State Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh. The Startup Expo under the theme, “Emerging Startup Trend in North India”, was organised jointly by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), DBT, GoI and CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu.
A total of 25 startups from North India, i.e. from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Delhi showcased their innovations and products in the Mega Expo. After inauguration, the Vice President went around various stalls put up by the Start Ups.

Dhankar also interacted with the distinguished gathering of traders, academicians, technocrats and members of the civil society. In the expo, StartUps exhibited their products, prototypes, and services, providing attendees with hands-on experiences of cutting-edge technologies.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh said that while India is emerging as a world leader in Biotechnology, Kathua with North India's first Biotech Industrial Park is emerging as North India's StartUp nerve centre. He said the Biotech ecosystem in the country is emerging at a rapid pace, with more than 6500 start-ups and 75 Bio-incubators set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) -Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
