Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar laid the foundation stone of the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub in Shillong yesterday. Mr. Dhankhar is on a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya.
On this occasion, the Vice President said that skills and innovation are not discovered or invented but represent the best use of a person’s talent in a particular field, which significantly enhances human resources. He shared information about the establishment of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, as well as the allocation of 60,000
crore Rupees for internships benefiting 5 lakh youths over five years.
Mr. Dhankhar stressed that villages and semi-urban areas should become centers for skill development. He acknowledged the Northeast’s vital role in the nation’s unity, economic progress, and cultural advancement. Highlighting the region’s importance, Mr. Dhankhar praised the Look East and Act East policies, which have led to unprecedented growth in communication, connectivity, and airport development in the region.
