The government of Karnataka released one tmcft from Narayanpur dam to Jurala on May 15, but the water is yet to reach Jurala and is expected in a day or two.
The Karnataka government released water after having discussions with the government of Telangana. The water level in Priyadarsini Jurala Project is abysmally low.
Water is being pumped from the project to Ramanpadu reservoir to quench the thirst of villagers in the region. In fact, 13
motors are being used to pump water.
The State government felt water is hardly sufficient to quench the villagers’ thirst and held parleys with the neighbouring Karnataka government. Meanwhile, officials have been experiencing anxious moments as water did not reach the Jurala project even after four days of its release.
However, they are expecting the water to reach Jurala by Friday morning since it has to travel 168 km from Narayanpur.
