In Jammu and Kashmir, after two days of flood threat, the water level in River Jhelum and other streams is receding bringing relief to the valleyites.
Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control department told that the water level at Sangam gauge in south kashmir was recorded at 17.45 feet at 7 this morning that is below the flood declaration level of 21 feet.
The water level at Ram Munshi Bagh gauge in
Srinagar was recorded at 18.35 feet that is few notches just above the flood declaration level of 18 feet.The Flood Control Department has advised people residing along the embankments of River Jhelum, Nallahs and in low-lying areas in Central Kashmir to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures.
The divisional administration has already put in place the rescue, relief and contingency plans to meet any eventuality.
