Kolkata: West Bengal government has imposed strict restrictions from today in wake of the fast-spreading Omicron cases. After reviewing the present Covid situation in the state, Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi announced that all educational institutions will be closed from today.
All academic activities in schools, colleges, and universities have been stopped. Only administrative activities have been permitted with 50% of employees at a time. Private and government offices will be allowed to function with up to 50 percent strength. Government and private offices have been asked to encourage work from home
as far as possible. Local trains will operate till 7 pm with 50 percent sitting capacity.
Kolkata Metro services shall operate with 50 percent seating capacity as per usual operational time. Flights from Mumbai and Delhi will be permitted on Mondays and Fridays. Salons, spas, swimming pools, beauty parlors, zoos, and entertainment parks will also be shut down from today. The order further states that shopping malls, market complexes, restaurants and bars, cinema halls, and theaters will be allowed to function with up to 50 percent capacity till 10 pm.
