In view of the rising covid cases, West Bengal government has issued an advisory and asked the people of the state to restrict the celebrations of Dolyatra and Holi within the family.
In an advisory issued by the state health department, the government said that as the virus is mutating, the infection rate may increase any moment. It suggested not to arrange any procession or congregation in the upcoming festival and asked people to maintain covid protocol. It also suggested making proper arrangements for people at religious places on Holi to ensure physical
distancing.
Meanwhile, 646 new covid cases have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours. Kolkata recorded the highest 239 cases while in North 24 parganas, the number was 153. In the poll-bound districts of Purulia, Bankura, East and West Medinipur, 36 new covid cases were reported while in Jhargram, no new case has been reported in the last ten days.
2.32 lakh people took the jab of vaccination yesterday as the total number of people vaccinated against Covid-19 crossed 43 lakhs in West Bengal.
