Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that by abrogating provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution, the BJP-led government had accomplished what the Congress governments had failed to do in 70 years.
Addressing a public rally in Haryana’s Jind district, Mr. Shah said Article 370 was a hurdle in the way of Sardar Patel’s dream of one India (akhand Bharat). “What Congress governments could not do in 70 years due to vote bank politics, Modiji did in 75 days (during the second term)...abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A will prove to be a milestone for the unity and integrity of India,” he
said.
Setting the tone ahead of the Assembly elections due in Haryana later this year, Mr. Shah appealed to the people to vote for the BJP again, owing to a corruption-free and transparent government led by Manohar Lal Khattar in the State.
Mr. Shah said the initiatives taken by the Khattar government, be it online transfer of teachers, transparency in recruitment or successful implementation of the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme, were being praised by all.
He said that the BJP government at the Centre and in Haryana were working to ensure corruption-free governance and development across the State.
