If you are on Twitter or any other social media platform, there is a strong possibility that you have read something about Congress president Rahul Gandhi's marriage to a fellow politician, Aditi Singh. The photographs of the two leaders are doing rounds on social media. While Rahul Gandhi is busy campaigning in Karnataka Assembly election for the Congress party, Aditi Singh has rubbished the reports of her marriage with her party boss.
Taking to Twitter, Aditi Singh wrote: Pichhle do dinon se social media par jo afwah failai ja rahi hia ussase hairan hoon. Rahul ji na sirf hamari party ke adhyaksh hain balki mere bade bhai jaise hain. Main unka behad samman karti hoon. Aap sab se nivedan hai ki shadi sambandhi kisi afwah par dhyan na dein (I am surprised with the rumours that are being spread on social media for past two days. Rahul ji is not only the president of our party rather he is like my elder brother. I respect him a lot. I request you all not to pay attention to any rumour about marriage).
"Such rumours upset me. I would like to clarify that Rahul Ji is my rakhi brother and I am really saddened by such rumours on social media," Aditi
Singh wrote further. However, the rumour mill has not stopped working on social media.
The speculations about marriage of Rahul Gandhi and Aditi Singh seems to have originated from some WhatsApp group in Rae Bareli where Aditi Singh is quite seen working at the ground level. The message, containing a photograph of Rahul Gandhi and Aditi Singh, went viral on social media claiming that the wedding would be solemnised later this month.
Aditi Singh is the first time MLA from Rae Bareli. She won the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in 2017 on Congress ticket when the BJP swept the state polls. Aditi Singh is the daughter of veteran Congress leader Akhilesh Singh, who had been five-time MLA from the same seat.
Considered close to Gandhi family, Akhilesh Singh succeeded in getting ticket for Aditi in 2017. Aditi, herself, is considered to be very close to Prinaka Vadra. Some even claim that Aditi left her corporate career to join politics on Priyanka Vadra's advice.
Aditi has a management graduation degree from Duke University, USA. Before moving to the USA, she studied in Delhi and Mussorie. She won the Rae Bareli seat with a margin of over 90,000 votes.
