In Odisha, the world famous Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri will reopen from Monday. The general devotees will however be allowed inside the temple from the 23rd of this month. A decision to this effect was taken by the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration yesterday.
“The entire week following the temple reopening on coming Monday will be kept reserved for the servitors of the deities and the residents of Puri city, followed by the general devotees, with effect from the 23rd of August. As
per the Standard Operating Procedures released by the temple administration, devotees will have to produce either final vaccination certificate or rt-pcr negative report to gain entry into the temple premises as a preventive measure.
The temple will however continue to be out of bound for the general devotees on all weekends and also on major festive occasions to avert any possible spike in viral transmission due to large gathering.
