A suspected World War II-era bomb exploded in Nagaland's Dimapur district on Tuesday killing a metal scrap collector, while four others were injured, police said. The blast occurred in the Burma Camp area when the scrap collector was pounding the bomb with a hammer to dismantle it, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Dr Naieem Mustafa
said.
"A blast occurred at UNB colony,Burma Camp.Preliminary investigation reveal that an iron scrap worker was pounding a suspected vintage bomb with hammer, when it went off. The accidental blast left one dead and four injured (sic)," Dimapur police said on Twitter.
One child and three others were also injured in the blast. They have been hospitalised.
