The Shiv Sena councillor Yashwant Jadhav has emerged as a lead contender in the race for mayor’s post, a senior Sena leader confirmed. The mayoral elections are slated to be held on March 8. The councillors are expected to file their nominations on March 4.
Sena was earlier considering former mayors such as Milind Vaidya and Vishaka Raut for the mayoral post. However, a Sena leader said the party will now look for new faces like

Yashwant Jadhav (who was recently declared as Sena’s group leader) and Ashish Chemburkar. Jadhav was elected from Wadi Bunder and Worli Dairy-Dr. Annie Besant Marg.
The Shiv Sena leader said, “For the mayoral post, Jadhav is being considered as he has worked in his ward for years. Also, Chemburkar seems to have a good chance for the post. The party is considering a new face for the mayor’s post.”
