Senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and Tirupati MP M Gurumoorthy and former minister P Venkataramaiah on Tuesday accused the ruling TDP-BJP-Janasena coalition of misusing Parliament to spread "falsehoods" about the alleged liquor scam while failing to secure central funds for Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference, the YSRCP leaders claimed that the state government had ignored its election promises, leaving people from all sections disillusioned.
They alleged that the ruling coalition was foisting false cases against YSRCP cadres and subjecting them to harassment.
"Despite having 21 MPs in the Lok Sabha, the coalition has failed to secure the state’s rightful funds. Instead, they are using the House to level baseless allegations against YSRCP leaders,"
Gurumoorthy and Venkataramaiah stated.
The leaders also criticised TDP’s Narsaraopeta MP L Sri Krishna Devarayalu for raising the liquor scam issue in Parliament while staying silent on allegations against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development case.
They accused the TDP of attempting to "falsely implicate" YSRCP leaders P Ramachandra Reddy, Mithun Reddy, and others.
Defending the YSRCP's tenure, they highlighted that the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had shut down 43,000 belt shops (illegal liquor outlets) and reduced liquor sale hours. Under such circumstances, they questioned how bribery could take place and accused the ruling coalition of spreading misinformation instead of addressing key concerns like the Polavaram project and the Vizag Steel Plant crisis.
