Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met with a Swiss Federal Railways delegation today before heading to the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos. During the meeting, they had a detailed discussion on safety technologies and maintenance practices. Mr Vaishnaw engaged with Swiss experts to understand the cutting-edge technologies that can enhance operational efficiency and safety within the Indian Railways system. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vaishnaw said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always guided the government to benchmark its efforts against global best practices. He highlighted that there is significant international interest in made-in-India products.

Later in the day, Mr Vaishnaw met with leading small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the railway sector, including Rhomberg Sersa AG, Selectron, Ucentrics, and Autech. The interactions focused on exploring potential partnerships and technology transfers, particularly in areas such as smart railway solutions and sustainable manufacturing practices. Mr. Vaishnaw also visited the rail coach manufacturing plant of Stadler



Rail in St. Margrethen. The exchange of ideas during this visit aligned with the country’s efforts to integrate world-class manufacturing practices and advanced engineering into its domestic rail production.

The day concluded with Minister Vaishnaw attending the opening dinner hosted by the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, where luminaries gathered. The discussions during the evening provided a platform to highlight India’s transformative rail initiatives and its unwavering focus on sustainable and inclusive growth in the infrastructure sector.

The Annual Meeting 2025 of the World Economic Forum is taking place at Davos-Klosters from January 20th to 24th. The India Pavilion at the 55th World Economic Forum annual conference in Davos features eight states, each seeking investment opportunities from executives of companies worldwide. Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and West Bengal are the states that have established their presence at the World Economic Forum 2025.
