Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali has assured that elaborate arrangements would be made to ensure uninterrupted supply of power, water and other civic amenities in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad during the month of holy Ramzan, which is likely to being from June 18.

Speaking to media persons after chairing a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Thursday, the Deputy CM announced Rs 5 crore have been sanctioned for Ramzan arrangements. He directed the GHMC to ensure removal of garbage immediately after Iftar during the entire month. He also asked the city police to ensure proper surveillance through CC Cameras at all important mosques, malls and other shopping areas. 

He announced that the foundation stone for welcome arch at Mir Alam Eidgah would be laid during this Ramzan. He said that the construction of G+1 toilets at Mecca Masjid would begin next year. Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy asked the police to permit all shops to remain open for 24 hours during the holy month. Stating that there were some glitches in arrangements last year, he directed the officials



to take corrective measures this year.

Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav asked the officials to complete the arrangements by June 10. He said that the ministers, city legislators and senior officials would inspect the arrangements after June 10 to ensure that all facilities are in place before the commencement of Ramzan. When pointed out by Yakutpura MLA that GHMC was not attending to works inside the mosques, he asked the officials to undertake all the works.

MIM MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Ahmed Balala, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Mohammed Maozam Khan, Kausar Mohiuddin, Meraj Hussain, MLC Altaf Hyderabad Razvi, TRS MLC Mohammed Saleem, BJP MLA C Ramchandrareddy, GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director M Jagadeeshwar and other senior officials of various departments attended the meeting.

The GHMC Commissioner informed that all works related to civic amenities in mosques would be completed by June 2, on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
