Hyderabad: Marketing Minister T Harish Rao today said the cotton farmers will get minimum support price to their produce with quality and moisture as per norms.
Releasing a wall-poster on “Cotton Price, Quality and Standards” here on Sunday, the minister asked the cotton farmers to ensure that their produce has quality and moisture levels from 8 to 12 per cent and not beyond that. It was decided to offer Rs 4,100 to top quality cotton with 8 per cent moisture.
Harish Rao also stated that 84 cotton purchase centers will be opened in the State
from Oct 10. “We have asked the officials to take immediate steps to open the centers and offer better price to the quality produce. The Cotton Corporation of India will collect only quality produce of cotton with 8 per cent to 12 per cent of moisture, he stated.
The cotton purchase centers will not take the produce from the farmers if their produce consists of more than 12 per cent of moisture, he clarified. The government was making all-out efforts to collect cotton and the farmers should try to bring better quality produce to these centers, he added.
