New Delhi: In a terror attack, gunmen wearing army uniform went on a rampage on Monday morning attacking a bus, a health centre and a police station, leaving 9 persons, including 3 policeman, dead and several injured in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
Army has launched an operation against the militants numbering about five who are holed up in Dinanagar police station complex.
The assailants also targeted a building where the families of police
personnel reside and threw grenades.
According to sources, a group of three to four attackers came in a white Maruti car and opened fire at the police station at around 5.30 am. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has confirmed about this incident and spoke to Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal about measures taken.
A team of National Security Guards [NSG] were also deployed to tackle the suspected terrorists.
