Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is all set to supply additional 45 million gallons per day (MGD) from Krishna phase III project by year end.

The board official told  that the High Court on Monday gave nod to resume Krishna phase III works which were halted in July 2014 at Prashasan Nagar.

The ongoing Krishna phase-III pipeline works at Prashasan Nagar had to be stopped as residents in the area near Ramanaidu Studios complained on the stone-crushing activity and got a stay order on the works from the High Court, halting the works.

A senior HMWSSB said

that only 1,300 metres of pipeline at Prashasan Nagar and 35 metres at Barkas were pending. “The work that has been stalled is on the Mailardevpally to Prashasan Nagar route.

Residents of nearby areas have been given assurance by the HMWSSB officials that there would not be any damage to the roads due to stone-crushing activity which is required to lay pipelines, as directed by the court.

People in those areas would be the biggest beneficiaries once the second stage of Krishna phase-3 water is pumped to the city.Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Scheme Phase III is being executed at a cost of Rs 1,670 crore.
