Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for collective efforts to tackle emerging challenges related to international waters in Indo-Pacific region.

He was delivering the keynote address at Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore last evening, the first Indian leader to do so. Mr Modi suggested five principles for co-existence of nations namely Respect, Dialogue, Co-operation, Peace and Prosperity. 

He said, all countries can prosper through freedom of navigation and peaceful resolution of disputes as per international law. The Prime Minister said, the countries should keep the differences aside and be sensitive to each other's interests for ensuring peace and harmony in the region.

On the final day of his Singapore visit, Mr Modi along with Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong unveiled a plaque at Clifford Pier this morning to commemorate the immersion of ashes of Mahatma Gandhi at this site in 1948. Mr



Modi also discussed bilateral matters with Mr Goh Chok Tong.

Later, the Prime Minister met US Defence Secretary James Mattis and discussed matters of mutual interest.He will visit Mariamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in the country which was built by early Indian setllers in the country. He will also visit Buddha relic Temple, National Orchid Garden, and Jamae Chulia mosque. 

The Prime Minister will visit the Indian Heritage Centre situated in Little India to inaugurate a permanent platform for Indian craftsmen visiting Singapore. The centre showcases Indian heritage and its rich cultural diversity. 

Before concluding his visit, the Prime Minister will meet officers and sailors of the Indian naval ship berthed in Changi naval base. Mr Modi reached Singapore on Thursday on last leg of his three nation tour to South Asian Countries.
