An open letter from a tolerant Muslim to those seeking capital punishment for Hindu Mahasabha activist

Dear Muslims,

I heard that you people are protesting in huge numbers across the country demanding death sentence to be given to some hate monger of Hindu Mahasabha.

For what? Someone disrespected our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Are you serious? Do you think that someone can insult a person with such a stature, for whom it is mentioned in the Quran, “We have raised high for you your repute” (Quran 94:4).

I do not agree with you all. Stature of all the Prophets of God is as such that no one can insult them.

Then why these protests? You are playing into the hands of political puppets who are using your aggression just to achieve their political objectives, don’t you think so?

Yes, you guys are giving free publicity to someone I have never heard about. This is the kind of publicity that other community gave to Akbaruddin Owaisi who insulted Hindu Gods.

Some of you might have cherished Owaisi’s remarks, right? But listen to what the last testament of God Almighty have to say about the one who insults other faiths…

“Revile note those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance.” (Quran 6:108)

You should have protested against Akbaruddin Owaisi too because he acted against Quran. I believe you all were sleeping at that time, isn’t it clear cut hypocrisy?

How many of you have read and understood the message of Quran and the life our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)?

If you would have gone through the Quran, you must have read where it says,

“Show forgiveness, enjoins what is good, and pay no attention to foolish people”. (Quran 7:199)

“And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, “Peace!”. (Quran: 25:63)

I agree with you, such vicious statements hurt all of us. No one should be allowed to play with sentiments of others. Whenever such hate-speeches are made, take it as an opportunity to show them what a great man the Prophet Muhammad was, from his great moral teachings, to his great personal examples and character.

Many of the attacks and insults on Islam are meant to provoke, the people doing these things want you to get really angry and do something stupid, and so they can eventually point fingers and gain support.

And please do not allow yourself to be ruined by following your local politicians and playing into the hands of hate-mongers. Follow what Quran teaches you. Spread peace, love and compassion.

The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better, then verily! He, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend. (Quran 41:34)
