New Delhi: Accusing the Delhi government of misusing public money on "self publicity", a delegation of BJP leaders today met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and raised the issue of AAP's decision to set aside Rs 526 crore for information and publicity in the current financial year.
Led by Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhayay, the delegation met Jung and sought his intervention into the matter.
Slamming Chief Ministar Arvind Kejriwal, Opposition leader Vijender Gupta alleged that the AAP government had allocated 2200 per cent
more funds than the last year on information and publicity.
"Bypassing the Supreme Court's order, Kejriwal has been presented as demi-God in recent TV ads recalling his name 13 times. The present exorbitant allocation is to continue this practice.
"As compared to publicity fund (Rs 526 crore), Rs 338 crore has been earmarked for SC/ST/EWS welfare, Rs 350 crore for nutrition, Rs 208 crores for labour and employment, Rs 400 crores for development of slum katras," he said in a statement.
