Hyderabad: Posing a major threat to the life of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Centre has withdrawn security cover given to him by the VIP Security wing of Union Ministry of Home Affairs on the ground that there is no “threat perception” for him. As such, the Union Home Ministry has felt that the present security being provided to KCR by the State police would be enough. In a recent communication, the MoHA told the Telangana police to take care of security of the Chief Minister on its own, even when he travels to other States, nations and to the national capital of Delhi.
This decision has definitely put
the Chief Minister in high risk, when travels to other States and to countries to attract investments, as the State police would not be able to provide the required security cover to him. Now with the Chief Minister all set to fly to China on September 7 to attend the World Economic Forum meeting, the Centre’s decision to deny him security cover might pose threat to his security.
Besides KCR, the Centre has also withdrawn security cover to family members of former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and former Speaker of Lok Sabha Meira Kumar, in its recent meeting on the security issues of VIPs.
