Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, accompanied by spouse, will formally declare Pushkarams open by taking a dip in River Godavari at Dharmapuri.. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday evening reached Dharmapuri by a special helicopter. On arrival, he was received by Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy, government chief whip Koppula Eswar, MP Balka Suman, Telangana Sanskruti Saradhi Rasamayi Balakishan, ZP chairperson Tula Uma and MLAs of various Assembly constituencies and bureaucrats.
The Chief Minister proceeded to Harita Hotel where he will stay for the night. At 5.45 am on Tuesday, he will reach Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Dharmapuri and take part in the Sobha Yatra. At 6.21 am, he will perform puja to River Godavari and take a holy dip in the river along with family members. The Karimnagar District Superintendent of Police beefed up security for the Chief Minister at Dharmapuri.

legislator Putta Madhu will take a holy dip in the river at Kaleswaram. Several ministers, MPs and MLAs of various constituencies will also take the holy dip at various ghats across Telangana. Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya will take a holy dip in the river at Dharmapuri on July 15.
Godavari enters Karimnagar district in Ibrahimpatnam mandal and flows for a distance of 148 kms. There are several important pilgrimage centers on the banks of Godavari in the district. Of them, Dharmapuri, Kaleswaram, Mandhani and Kotilingala are important. It is estimated that at least 50 lakh people will take a holy dip per day.
The Government of Telangana made suitable arrangements to meet the rush. The event is likely to be celebrated on the scale of Kumbh Mela. Accordingly, in his capacity as the Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao earmarked Rs 600 crore to make arrangements for the event. This year, he is going to take a holy dip in the river as first Chief Minister of Telangana.
