Ranchi: A curfew has been imposed in Jamshedpur after two communities clashed over the alleged harassment of a girl, police said on Wednesday. It was imposed on Tuesday night.
Trouble started on Monday evening when a girl of one community was allegedly harassed by men of another community near Gandhi Maidan area of city.
A mob burnt tyres
following which members of the two communities clashed. Police said both the communities resorted to violence at many places and burnt vehicles. On Monday, prohibitory orders were imposed. But as the situation continued to be tense, authorities imposed a curfew in many parts of the district.
More than 100 people have been arrested so far.
