The inaugural day of the much-anticipated ‘Pravasi Parichay’ or Diaspora Week unfolded with fervor in Riyadh, as the Indian expatriate community came together to celebrate National Unity Day. The festivities included a mesmerizing Ghazal Night featuring the renowned Singer and Poet, Mr. Johnny Foster, whose melodic notes resonated through the evening.
 
Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, extended his best wishes to the attendees via a video message, emphasizing the significance of the occasion. The Indian Ambassador to Riyadh, Dr. Suhel Khan, paid a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, urging the Indian diaspora to actively participate in the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. His call was met with an overwhelming  response from the Indian community, who showed their unwavering support.

Parichay’ unfolds over the next week, an array of cultural events is on the agenda. These include a Quiz for Students, a captivating Photo Exhibition, and a Women's Day celebration that highlights the remarkable achievements of Indian women in Saudi Arabia.
 
Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of  ‘State Days,’ spanning three days, during which community organizations representing 12 Indian states will showcase their distinctive cultural heritage. States such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala will be among those celebrated. 

The atmosphere is rife with anticipation, and the Indian expatriate community in Riyadh is poised to make ‘Pravasi Parichay’ a resounding success.
