Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the handover ceremony of 12 High Speed Guard Boats at Hong Ha Shipyard at Hai Phong in Vietnam today. Mr Singh said in a tweet that it gave him great pleasure to join the historic ceremony marking the successful completion of the project. He said, the project is a glowing example of India's ‘Make in India- Make for the World’ mission.
Mr Singh said, India would be greatly pleased if close friends like Vietnam become part of its Defence Industries transformation through enhanced Defence
Industry cooperation. He added that he was confident that this will be a precursor to many more cooperative defence projects between India and Vietnam.
The defence ministry informed that twelve High-Speed Guard Boats were built under the project at 100 million US dollar Defence Line of Credit by India. It said, initial five boats were manufactured at the L&T Shipyard in India and rest seven were built in Hong Ha Shipyard. Mr Singh is on a three-day visit to Vietnam.
