Dubai International Airport was named the world's busiest international airport in May.
According to Aviation Intelligence OAG, 1,895,866 passengers used the airport in May, despite a ban on passengers at international airports. Dubai Airport has already achieved the title of the busiest airport from London's Heathrow Airport.
According to a report in Arab News, the rating is based on a fixed capacity, which is compared to the number of passengers in the
same month in 2019 before the Corona epidemic. Two other regional airports also topped the list, with Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport coming in second with a capacity of about 1.3 million, while Doha International Airport has a capacity of about 1.5 million.
According to OAG figures, four Middle Eastern airports were the busiest in May, with three connecting Cairo to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dubai. In Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh route from Jeddah was the busiest route with a capacity of 547,936 in May.
