The festival of
Vijaya Dashmi is being celebrated with religious enthusiasm across the country
today. The festival marks the victory of good over evil. President, Vice
President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the eve of Dussehra. In
his message President Pranab Mukherjee appealed to the people to resolve to
follow the path of moral and ethical rectitude which has guided for centuries.

Hamid Ansari expressed hope that the festival will bring peace, harmony and
prosperity in the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a series of tweets,
he also greeted the RSS Swayamsevaks on the foundation day of
the RSS. In his
greeting message, Mr Modi conveyed his best wishes to all Swayamsevaks in their
endeavours to serve our nation.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary for his selfless service to the society. He also remembered Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary. Mr Modi said, his contribution towards preserving India's democratic ideals is invaluable. In National capital, the traditional Ramlila will come to an end with the burning of effigies of Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran. Delhi Police have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.
