Hyderabad Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali visited Mecca Masjid, here, on Sunday and inspected arrangements for the holy month of Ramzan.
The Deputy CM directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and power besides taking care of sanitation and cleanliness. It has been decided to open the Western gate of Mecca Masjid during the month of Ramzan.
The officials told him that two additional generators were being placed at Mecca Masjid for the month of Ramzan. The State government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for Ramzan arrangements in the State. However, Mahmood Ali said Ramzan arrangements at Mecca Masjid
were being made from a separate fund.
He also informed that the Archaeological Survey of India would take up repair of Mecca Masjid roof after Ramzan. Replying to a question, Mahmood Ali said that the State government has no proposal to pay Rs 10,000 to Imams who offer Taraveeh prayers, as demanded by a BJP MLA.
Further, there is no plan to increase salaries for the staff of Mecca Masjid and Royal Mosque of Public Gardens. The Deputy CM was accompanied with Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Special Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel, Minorities Welfare Director MJ Akbar and other senior officials.
