External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar had a bilateral meeting with the Secretary of State of the US Marco Rubio last night. In a social media post, Dr Jaishankar said that both leaders have reviewed their extensive bilateral partnership and also exchanged views on a wide range of regional and global issues.

Dr Jaishankar also attended the meeting of Quad foreign ministers in Washington DC last night. In a post on his social media account, the Minister said that the meeting took place within the inauguration of the Trump



Administration. He said this underlines the priority it has in the foreign policy of its member states. 

Dr Jaishankar said that the leaders discussed different dimensions of ensuring a free, open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. The Minister said that they agreed on the importance of thinking bigger, deepening the agenda and intensifying collaboration. He added the meeting sends a clear message that in an uncertain and volatile world, the Quad will continue to be a force for global good.
