Doha: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Doha yesterday. Both the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues. This is the minister’s second visit to the Gulf nation in less than a week’s time.
Earlier on his way to Kuwait, Mr Jaishankar had made a brief stopover in Doha on June 9th, where
he met Qatar’s National Security Advisor Mohamed Bin Ahmed Al Mesned. He thanked Qatar’s NSA for the Gulf nation’s support and solidarity in India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
These meetings hold importance as they happen to be against the backdrop of separate interactions in Qatar involving US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban negotiators.
