External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a telephonic conversation. Both leaders discussed the ongoing developments in Ukraine and its implications.
Dr Jaishankar spoke to Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov on the Ukraine developments. Dr Jaishankar emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the best way forward.
Dr Jaishankar also held a telephonic discussion with UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. They exchanged perspectives on the Ukrainian situation.
The External Affairs Minister also spoke to Foreign Ministers of Hungary and Romania on evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine.
Dr Jaishankar reached out to his Hungarian Counterpart Péter Szijjártó. In a tweet, Dr
Jaishankar said, Mr Szijjártó has promised full cooperation to facilitate evacuation from Debrecen. The External Affairs Minister thanked him for his understanding.
Dr Jaishankar deeply appreciated the support from his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu on evacuating Indian nationals from Ukraine. He said, the Ministry of External Affairs is working with Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure border crossing expeditiously. Dr Jaishankar said, times of difficulty that's what friends are for.
Dr Jaishankar discussed the situation in Ukraine with his counterpart from Slovakia, Ivan Korcok. In a tweet, the Minister said, he appreciated Mr Korcok's willingness to facilitate the evacuation of Indian nationals through Slovakia.
