Jangaon: Telugu Desam MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who arrested for his alleged involvement in the stone pelting incident at Palakurthy on Sunday, was granted bail by a court here on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Mr Rao was produced before the court which sent him to 14 days police custody. However, after a second hearing, he was granted bail.
Mr Rao and 18 others were booked under Sections 120(b), 353, 147 and 148. he was named the first accused in the Palakurthy incident relating to conspiracy, unlawful assembly, carrying deadly
weapons, attack on government servants and deliberately causing grievous injuries.
The incident took place at the Chakali Ilamma market in Palakurthy where Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari was scheduled to inaugurate additional rooms for the godown. Mr Rao reached the market with his party workers and soon, the place turned into a battleground. Several persons, including the local SI and media persons were injured.
Following the incident, Mr Rao was shifted to the Narmetta police station and was held there till Monday morning.
