A group of terrorists today attacked security forces near Indian Air Force base at Pathankot in Punjab. Police said, four attackers were killed in the ensuing encounter. Firing is still on near the Air Force base. The terrorists launched the attack at the base in the wee hours. Police said, an unknown number of militants have launched the attack on the army and police personnel after a combing operation was launched yesterday in the area between the airbase and
Chakki river. The entire area has been cordoned off. Defence PRO Manish Mehta told that four security personnel have been injured.
Authorities said the helicopters and other equipment at the Air base is safe. Yesterday, five suspected militants abducted an SP and two others and thrashed them before dumping them from vehicle.
After the incident a combing operation was launched in the border areas of Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts.
