The Government has convened an all-party meeting today to seek cooperation from leaders of the both the Houses for smooth functioning of Parliament.The month long winter session of Parliament beginning from tomorrow and will continue till 16th of next month.
Congress and other opposition parties are gearing to corner the government on the demonetisation issue. Congress has sought suspension of business on day one of Winter Session to discuss the demonetisation issue.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan yesterday held a meeting with floor leaders of the parties to discuss ways to ensure smooth



functioning of the House.Talking to reporters after the meeting in New Delhi, Ms Mahajan expressed hope that there will be a healthy discussion on various issues during the winter session. She said, the members of the parties demanded a discussion on various issues including demonetisation of high value notes.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has said discussion on demonetisation should be taken up in the House on priority.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, Sudip Bandyopadhyay of TMC, BJD leader Bharthruhri Mehtab and floor leader of other parties also attended the meeting.
