Hyderabad: Local MP and chief of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has once again questioned the logic of sending Muslims to gallows while leaving right wing extremists with imprisonment.
Asaduddin, reacting after the hanging of Yakub Abdul Razak Memon, on Thursday morning told reporters at party headquarters in Darussalam here, that he strongly feels that perpetrators of the 2002 Naroda Patiya killings in Gujarat will never see the gallows. “If the same kind of justice continues, one will see Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi released. But we will continue raising our voice,” the Majlis chief
said.
Asaduddin said that he would like to see Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi being hanged to death for their role in the 2002 Godhra riots one day.
Babubhai Patel was sentenced to life term imprisonment for his role in the Naroda Patiya massacre in which ninety-seven Muslims were murdered, while Maya Surendra Kumar Kodnani, a gynecologist, who was a minister for Women and Child Development at that time, was sentenced to 28 years for her part. “If Yakub deserves hanging, then Maya and Kodnani also should go to gallows,” Asaduddin said.
