High level Central technical team to visit Tamil Nadu today

In Tamil Nadu, the high level central technical team led by Central Water Commission chairman G S Jha will visit delta regions of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam today. The team had visited Mettur Dam and Bhavani Sagar Dams yesterday. 

The central team had discussions with Tiruchirapalli district collector KS Palanisamy and other PWD officials last night. The central technical team will finalise the report after completing the visit to delta regions today. Tiruchi farmers submitted petitions regarding how they have lost Kuruvai and



depend only on one crop now. The delta farmers of Thanjavur Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam will be urging the central team for release of enough Cauvery water to save samba crops. 

The team will visit Kallanai, Cauvery delta tail end regions including  Sathiakudi ,Velankanni. GS Jha team led had already visited Cauvery basin dams in Karnataka and Mettur, Bhavani Sagar dams in Tamil Nadu. The team has collected water storage, inflow, outflow details in dams and will be getting more information about water needs for irrigation.
